Effective date: 21 June 2026CounselGist ("the app") is published by LinnLight Studio ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles and why. We have tried to keep it plain and honest.The short versionCounselGist is an offline reference and revision app. It has no user accounts and no sign-up. All of its core content lives inside the app and works without an internet connection. We do not build profiles of you, and we do not sell or share your data for advertising.PurchasesCounselGist offers a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks the full content. Payments are processed by Google Play. To manage purchases and unlock content reliably across reinstalls, we use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. When you make or restore a purchase, RevenueCat processes, on our behalf:Purchase history — a record that the unlock was bought, so we can keep it unlocked for you.Device and app identifiers — an anonymous identifier RevenueCat uses to associate the purchase with your installation.Basic diagnostic information — limited technical data used to make purchases and restores work reliably.This information is transmitted securely (encrypted in transit). We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, photos, messages, or health information. We do not sell or share this information, and it is not used for advertising.Third-party servicesPurchases are handled by Google Play (see Google's Privacy Policy) and managed by RevenueCat (see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy). These providers process the limited purchase data described above so that the app's purchase and restore features work.Data retention and deletionBecause there are no accounts, we hold no personal profile about you. Purchase records are retained by Google Play and RevenueCat as needed to provide and restore your purchase. If you would like to ask a question about your data or request deletion of purchase records associated with your installation, email us at [email protected] and we will help.Crash reportingIf the app crashes or runs into an unexpected error, a technical report is sent to Sentry, a service we use to find and fix problems. The report describes what the app was doing when it went wrong, along with basic device details such as the phone model and operating system version. It does not include your name, your email address, or anything you have written in the app. These reports are stored on Sentry's European servers and we keep them only for as long as we need them to fix the problem.Usage analyticsWe collect anonymous information about how the app is used so we can understand which features help and where to improve. These events cover moments like opening the app, viewing a glossary entry, finishing a quiz, or completing a tour, along with simple details such as content identifiers, scores, and counts.This data is anonymous. Events are grouped by a random code generated for each installation, and we never collect your name, your email address, your device's advertising ID, or anything you type. When you search, we record only that a search happened, never the words you searched for.We use PostHog, an analytics service, to process this data on our behalf. It is stored on PostHog's servers in the European Union and is never sold or passed to anyone else for their own purposes.ChildrenCounselGist is intended for adult students and practitioners and is not directed at children.Medical disclaimerCounselGist is a study and reference aid.
